It appears John Leguizamo already has his eyes set on his next big project on the eve of the success of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.” According to Deadline, Leguizamo is in the early stages of once again sharing the screen with Matt Damon in The Daniels Untitled Project for Universal.
Leguizamo, who will be reunited with Damon, will join an all-star ensemble filled with talents like Sandra Oh, Charles Melton, Michael Gandolfini, and music superstar PinkPantherss.
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, better known as The Daniels, have been laying the groundwork for their biggest endeavor yet. The pair’s previous film, “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” was a box office sensation, eventually winning seven Academy Awards, including Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Picture.
Little is known about The Daniels’ new film other than that it is categorized as an event film for the studio. Damon has described the film recently while promoting “The Odyssey” on the Dan Patrick Show, saying, “It’s ‘The Breakfast Club’ meets ‘Inception’ meets an anime film meets an episode of ‘The John Oliver Show’ that didn’t get aired.”
This film is a massive get for Universal, and with actors like Leguizamo wanting to work alongside The Daniels, it’s only a testament to what this film could be. This opportunity certainly only aids Leguizamo, an industry veteran riding some of the best raves of his career for his work as Eumaeus in “The Odyssey,” already fast-tracking him into the conversation for this year’s best supporting actor race at the Oscars. Whatever The Daniels are cooking up, Leguizamo feels like the right fit for their filmmaking sensibility.
