A24 has released the official trailer for Daina O. Pusić’s “Tuesday” starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lola Petticrew, Leah Harvey, and Arinzé Kene. No release date has been announced yet.
Plot Synopsis: A mother and her teenage daughter must confront Death when it arrives in the form of an astonishing talking bird. From debut filmmaker Daina O. Pusić, Tuesday is a heart-rending fairy tale about the echoes of loss and finding resilience in the unexpected.
What do you all think of the trailer? I saw this film at its world premiere during the Telluride Film Festival, and while there were some who were really moved by this story, I found it to be absolutely horrid and tonally misguided. The giant CGI bird is extremely laughable when the movie wants to have this serious tone, and there are more than a few baffling moments I dare not spoil that made this feel like a totally different film than what it was trying to sell to the audience. Maybe it works better if you’re a parent. I’m not entirely sure. Even Julia Louis-Dreyfus, one of our most dependable actors, couldn’t save this for me. Perhaps it’ll work better for you? I’m not going to put down anyone’s personal experience with this if they enjoyed the film, but I honestly have no interest in revisiting it to find out for myself. What do you think of the trailer?
