Trailer – “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire”

Sony Pictures has released the official teaser trailer for “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” starring Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson & Annie Potts. The film will be released theatrically on March 29th, 2024.

Plot Synopsis: In “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

What do you all think of the trailer? Co-writer Gil Kenan is taking over directing duties from co-writer Jason Reitman this time, and I don’t mind the fresh perspective, seeing as how “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” elicited such a polarized response upon its release in 2021. The number one best aspect of the 2021 sequel/re-boot was the new cast, and I’m glad to see they’re all returning. McKenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard, especially, are two of the most fascinating young actors working today, and I’ll never say no to seeing more Carrie Coon in feature film roles, no matter what capacity she’s being featured. The comedic elements of the teaser, the goofiness of the apocalyptic ice gimmick, and the inclusion of the legacy characters may induce a degree of cringing. Still, I’m willing to give this franchise the benefit of the doubt one more time for this forthcoming installment. What do you all think?
