Neon has released the official trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s “Artificial,” written by Simon Rich, starring Andrew Garfield, Yura Borisov, Monica Barbaro, Ike Barinholtz, Cooper Hoffman, Jason Schwartzman, and Mark Rylance. The film will have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival on October 5 and is scheduled to be released in select theaters in the United States on Christmas Day.
Plot Synopsis: Follows the confusing firing and rehiring cycle of Sam Altman at OpenAI where the board gained control of the company and removed him, and Altman still returned.
What do you all think of the trailer? Luca Guadagnino is one of my favorite working filmmakers, and despite some fatigue for this type of film, I am curious to see what he will bring to it and what drew him to this material. Simon Rich is an incredibly talented comedy writer so the two of them collaborating on this is fascinating. This trailer doesn’t show much but the ambience it creates around the Altman character is quite effective for a teaser. I’m excited to see how Garfield approaches the role and how much all of the wonderful ensemble gets to do.
