Joaquin Phoenix To Play Napoleon In Ridley Scott’s “Kitbag”

By Cody Dericks

As per Deadline, Joaquin Phoenix has signed on to play the infamous French leader Napoleon in “Kitbag,” which will be directed by Ridley Scott.

The ceaselessly-working Scott just wrapped production on his latest film “The Last Duel” today. David Scarpa will write the screenplay after previously collaborating with Scott on “All the Money in the World.”

The sure-to-be epic film will follow the diminutive general’s rise to power while also exploring his relationship with his wife Josephine. “Kitbag” will be a reunion for the director and actor who haven’t worked together since Scott directed Phoenix to his first Oscar nomination in “Gladiator” 20 years ago.

So what do you think? Does this director-star pairing make you excited to see this film? Could this finally nab Ridley Scott his elusive Oscar? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or on our Twitter account.
