Hunter Schafer Joins David Lowery’s “Mother Mary”

According to Deadline, Hunter Schafer has joined the cast of David Lowrey’s new film “Mother Mary.” The pop musical epic will also star Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel. Lowrey wrote the screenplay and will direct the film. A24 is producing the film.

“Mother Mary” is described as a pop music epic. It would follow a fictional musician (Hathaway) and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer (Coel). Schafer is set to play Hilda, who will be the assistant of Coel’s designer Sam. Nothing else is known about the project.

Everything about this project is an immediate yes. Lowrey is one of the best working filmmakers today. It’s a very interesting departure compared to his recent work on Disney’s Peter Pan. Hathaway and Coel sound like an absolute dream pairing. Adding Schafer on top of that is amazing as well. Her work on “Euphoria” is outstanding, and it’s great to see her slowly breaking out into more films.
