Trailer – “Spaceman”

Netflix has released the official trailer for John Renck’s “Spaceman” starring Adam Sandler, Carey Mulligan, Kunal Nayyar, Lena Olin, with Isabella Rossellini and Paul Dano. The film will have its world premiere at the 2024 Berlinale Film Festival and then be available to stream on Netflix on March 1st, 2024.

Plot Synopsis: Six months into a solitary research mission to the edge of the solar system, an astronaut, Jakub (Adam Sandler), realizes that the marriage he left behind might not be waiting for him when he returns to Earth. Desperate to fix things with his wife, Lenka (Carey Mulligan), he is helped by a mysterious creature from the beginning of time he finds hiding in the bowels of his ship. Hanuš (voiced by Paul Dano) works with Jakub to make sense of what went wrong before it is too late. Directed by Johan Renck and based on the novel Spaceman of Bohemia, the film also stars Kunal Nayyar, Lena Olin, and Isabella Rossellini.

What do you all think of the trailer? I’m pretty sure we all loved “Chernobyl” by John Renck, so naturally, we’re all looking forward to this to some degree or another. Seeing Sandler in a space film that is intimate and not focused on comedy or action is certainly another intriguing step forward for this phase of his career, as he appears to be pushing himself dramatically more than he ever has before. Renck’s visual style also looks stunning in some aspects, but will the story be fully formed enough to give audiences more and go beyond the simple “man goes crazy in isolation” premise? What do you think of it? Are you excited? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or our Twitter account.
