Trailer – “Captain America: Brave New World”

Marvel Studios has released the trailer for Julius Onah’s “Captain America: Brave New World” starring Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler & Giancarlo Esposito. The film will be released in theaters on February 14th, 2025.

Plot Synopsis: After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.

What do you all think of the trailer? Believe it or not, I’ve been anticipating this since I saw Julius Ohna’s previous film, “Luce,” a thought-provoking psychological drama that was one of my favorite films of 2019. While this might, visually speaking, be the worst-looking trailer Marvel has ever put out, it’s also one of the most excitingly well-cut trailers, bolstered by the presence of Harrison Ford playing U.S. President Thaddeus Ross after William Hurt’s tragic passing in 2022. It might still take some getting used to seeing Anthony Mackie in the Captain America role, and the 2021 series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” certainly did its best to ease viewers into this new transition. Still, I remain optimistic that Mackie will deliver in this feature film. Going to theaters, despite the gap since “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” shows Marvel still has a lot of confidence in it instead of sending it directly to Disney+ for streaming. I’m sure viewers will love seeing their first glimpse at Ford as Red Hulk, but this is not what intrigues me. One of the elements that always made the “Captain America” films stand out was the political intrigue and moral complexities of trying to be just in a world full of injustice. Will this film carry that over, or will it give in to the corporate tie-ins, set-ups, and silly fan service the MCU has been mainly preoccupied with post-“Avengers: Endgame” to increase Disney+ subscriptions instead of telling better stories that do these characters justice? We’ll find out soon enough. What do you all think, though? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or on our Twitter account.
