Plot Synopsis: From Director Steven Soderbergh, “Black Bag” is a gripping spy drama about legendary intelligence agents George Woodhouse and his beloved wife Kathryn. When she is suspected of betraying the nation, George faces the ultimate test – loyalty to his marriage or his country.
What do you all think of the trailer? I’m always in the bag for a new Soderbergh film, but this looks like one of his more low-key efforts. It will undoubtedly be intriguing to see Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett up on the screen together, playing husband and wife spies. However, the trailer is marketing this as a more intense action thriller, and I worry if it’ll be setting audiences up for disappointment, seeing as how there is not much action in the trailer (the car explosion shot is literally used twice to mask the fact there aren’t many if any action set pieces). The intrigue and overall slickness of the storytelling from Soderbergh, along with the charisma and chemistry of its two leads, will be needed to make the film work. Otherwise, audiences may find it tedious and dull. What do you all think? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below or on our X account.
