After its world premiere at Cannes, where it won the festival’s Best Screenplay prize, many have been anxiously awaiting to experience what is considered a new body horror classic and one of 2024’s very best films. The film is an onslaught of maximalist filmmaking with grotesque imagery, impactful sound, and dramatically effective performances mixed with a satirical tone that pokes at our preconceived notions of beauty, aging, and self-image.
