“The Color Purple” adapts the stage musical for the big screen with one of the best ensemble casts of the year. Fellow friends and former Juilliard acting students Danielle Brooks and Corey Hawkins were kind enough to spend time speaking with us about their work in the film playing Sofia and Harpo, respectively. Brooks, in particular, has already been nominated for a Critics Choice and Golden Globe Award for her performance as Sofia, a role for which she was also nominated for a Tony Award on Broadway. Please be sure to check out the film, which is now playing in theaters from Warner Bros. Pictures and is up for your consideration at the 96th Academy Awards in all eligible categories, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Supporting Actor. Thank you, and enjoy!
