Today, the European Film Academy revealed the nominees for the “European Animated Feature Film” category. As the Academy aims to equally recognize the achievements and contributions of animation films for European film culture, the nominated films in this category are also eligible for the category “European Film.” The committee that decided on the nominations comprised representatives of the European Film Academy and CARTOON, the European Association for Animation Film. The nomination committee will be presented on www.europeanfilmawards.eu after the nominations are published. The European Film Awards honor the most significant achievements in European cinema. This year, the awards ceremony takes place on December 7th in Lucerne.
The nominated films are:
- FLOW, directed by Gints Zilbalodis (Latvia, France, Belgium)
- LIVING LARGE, directed by Kristina Dufková (Czech Republic, France, Slovakia)
- SAVAGES, directed by Claude Barras (Switzerland, France, Belgium)
- SULTANA’S DREAM, directed by Isabel Herguera (Spain, Germany, India)
- THEY SHOT THE PIANO PLAYER, directed by Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal (Spain, France, Netherlands, Portugal, Peru)

The nominations for the categories “European Film,” “European Director,” “European Actress,” “European Actor,” “European Screenwriter,” and “European Documentary” will be made public on November 5th, 2024. The members of the European Film Academy will then vote for the winner, which will be announced on December 7th, 2024, in Lucerne.
The selection is based on the Diversity & Inclusion Standards of the European Film Academy.
The ceremony of the European Film Awards – the most renowned and prestigious award for European film – is presented by the European Film Academy and European Film Academy Productions gGmbH.
