After months of speculation and assumption, we can finally confirm that Martin Scorsese’s newest film, “Killers of The Flower Moon,” will officially have its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The official account of the Cannes Film Festival confirmed the news earlier this morning. It is currently not known whether the film will play in or out of competition.
“Killers of the Flower Moon” is an adaptation of the David Grann novel following an FBI investigation into the murders of wealthy oil Osage Nation members under mysterious circumstances. The Apple Original film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser, and John Lithgow. Currently, Scorsese, DiCaprio, Gladstone, De Niro and Plemons are expected to attend in person
Scorsese’s newest film is easily one of the year’s most anticipated films. The non-fiction novel it’s based on is riveting and will surely be in the Oscar conversation later this year from Apple. With a reported $200 million budget, it will not only be the most expensive film of Scorsese’s career, but it will be exciting for audiences to see how he brings this epic story to the big screen.
