Kenneth Lonergan Is Back with “Tomorrow Is a Drag”

Many cinephiles have been eagerly awaiting Kenneth Lonergan’s return to the director’s chair, and now we finally have confirmation of what his new film will be. According to Variety, the award-winning filmmaker and playwright has brought “Tomorrow is a Drag” to the elusive Cannes Film Market. As the long-awaited follow-up to “Manchester by the Sea,” it will star a stacked ensemble, featuring the likes of Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Vanessa Kirby, and Matthew Broderick.

Besides this announcement, little is known about the plot, except that the film is set in New York. “Tomorrow is a Drag” finds Lonergan reuniting with former collaborators Driver (from the Off-Broadway production of “Hold On to Me Darling”) and Broderick (from “You Can Count on Me” and “Margaret”). Whatever Lonergan has in store for audiences, we can expect his next project to be just as humorous and emotionally stirring as many of his projects are. “Manchester by the Sea,” which came out in 2016, was one of that year’s most celebrated films, earning six nominations at the 89th Academy Awards, with Lonergan winning Best Original Screenplay.

Are you excited for Lonergan’s “Tomorrow is a Drag”? Who else do you think will be announced to join this ensemble? What do you think of this news? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or on our X account.
