Jimmy Kimmel Will Host The 96th Academy Awards

It’s officially been announced that Jimmy Kimmel will return for the fourth time (and second straight year) to host the 96th Academy Awards on March 10th, 2024, on the ABC Network.

Kimmel previously hosted in 2017 and 2018 before the show went hostless for three years in a row in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Following record-low ratings, the Academy came crawling back to Kimmel, and the Oscars have steadily increased their ratings since the record low of the 2021 ceremony.

While many take issue with Kimmel’s hosting style, there’s little doubt he’s proven to be a reliable, safe, and easy option for the at-home audience. It may not be an exciting voice to draw in new viewers to increase the ratings. However, some will argue the show still needs to figure out other issues regarding its overall presentation before moving on to a different, more risky host.

What do you think of this choice? Are you happy with Kimmel returning? What has been your favorite moment from his hosting over the last three Oscar ceremonies? Please let us know in the comments section below or on our Twitter account.
