Netflix has released the official teaser trailer for J.A. Bayona’s “Society Of The Snow” starring Enzo Vogrincic, Agustín Pardella, Matías Recalt, Esteban Bigliardi, Diego Vegezzi, Fernando Contigiani García, Esteban Kukuriczka, Rafael Federman, Francisco Romero, Valentino Alonso, Tomás Wolf, Agustín Della Corte, Felipe Otaño, Andy Pruss, Blas Polidori, Felipe Ramusio & Simón Hempe. The film will have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival as the closing night film and will arrive on Netflix at a later date.
Plot Synopsis: In 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which had been chartered to fly a rugby team to Chile, crashed in the heart of the Andes. Only 29 of its 45 passengers survived the accident. Trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible environments on the planet, they have to resort to extreme measures to stay alive.
What do you all think of the trailer? This looks like an intense and harrowing experience that is leaning towards Bayona’s work on “The Impossible” to tell a tragic true story. The visual effects, sound work and direction from Bayona look like they will be contenders to watch out for in this year’s awards race seeing as how Netflix has shown over the years that they’re more than capable of getting their international titles Oscar nominations. The fact the film is not playing at Telluride, TIFF or NYFF after its closing night screening in Venice is suspicious though. Either way, this is an intriguing teaser that tells us we’re in for another grueling survival film. Will it provide anything more than that? We’ll find out soon. What do you all think, though?
